THE REALITY OF UNSEEN THINGS
BY

If we could see into the spiritual realm, if we could glimpse into the region just beyond the shadow, if we could see the invisible world, we would forever be a changed person. It would scare us. It would shake us. It would wake us up. For reality lies in the unseen things of the spiritual world. The Apostle Paul wrote in II Corinthians 4:18, "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
"Things seen" vanish and pass away. Buildings decay and crumble down. Clothes wear out. Your new car will be not more than junk in just a few years. Money becomes inflated. And even this old "house of clay" will return to the earth. But your soul, your spirit, that which you do not see, will live forever.
Do not doubt the reality of unseen things. For at this very moment, thousands of radio waves bombard the atmosphere. They are unseen, yet very real. And at this moment, many thousands of prayers are bombarding heaven. These are unseen prayers to an unseen God, who hear, answers, heals, and satisfies unseen hearts.
Unseen things are for REAL. The soul is for REAL. God is for REAL. The devil is for REAL. Angels are for REAL. Demons are for REAL. And, this spiritual warfare that we fight is for REAL. We are in a REAL battle. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)
It is imperative for the Christian to focus the eyes of his heart not on "things seen," but on "things unseen." What are some of these "unseen things.?"
The Holy Ghost is unseen. His Spirit is like the wind. By observing the destructive actions of the wind, we know it's a real thing. In the same way, by observing the constructive actions of the Holy Ghost, we know "it's the real thing." We who have His wonderful gift are in possession of the same Spirit that raised the dead, and the same Spirit that will quicken our mortal bodies at His coming. Though many things around would be false, we know the Holy Ghost is real.
And because of His love, we have hope of reaching an unseen city, a city not made with hands. In Colossians 3:2, we read, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Though mortal eyes cannot see that city, the eyes of the heart see that land and that city, a city not made with hands. Don't ever forget that you are a "pilgrim and a stranger" traveling through this land. This world is not your home.
In conclusion, let me ask you these questions: Can your heart see? Can it see beyond the materialism of this world? Does your heart see the reality that exists beyond this visible world, beyond this world of flesh, beyond this vale of tears. Can your heart see the reality of unseen things?
